7 Weeks

Our scan went well last Friday. The baby is growing where it's supposed to be and we even saw its tiny heart beating away. I was so excited, and so was DH. I think it's finally sunk in that he's going to be a father. For men the proof is more visual. He confessed that he wasn't sure how to react when we did the test and it was positive. He had to eyeball the instruction until he was confident that a lighter test line is still a confirmation.

I had some spotting last Thursday, which I told the GP about. She said it's not normal and booked me in for another scan in 2 weeks just to make sure everything is okay. I'm going to sit back and take it one day at a time. No stressing over it and no unnecessary worries. Whatever happens, happens, all I can do is make sure I keep fit and do everything within my power to maintain a healthy body and hopefully, a healthy pregnancy too.

As far as my symptoms are concerned. My bbs REALLY hurt and they feel hard and lumpy. I've only thrown up once, thank God. Still have nausea though and certain foods make me want to be sick. Which means my appetite has literally gone down the drain. I'm ALWAYS tired, don't seem to have the energy for anything these days. I'm so constipated it's not even funny. I used to be regular, sometimes twice a day. Now I'd be lucky if I can go once a day. I'm increasing my fibre intake, but that's hard to do when you don't have any appetite. Occasional back pain. My tummy feels bloated. I wake up feeling like I'd just had a 3 course meal. Aside from lack of appetite, my stomach seems to have shrunk so even when eating foods that appeal to me, I get quickly satiated after just a few spoonfuls.

There's lots of other uncomfortable things happening, but I wouldn't change it for the world and I would freak out if they stopped. I can't wait to be kicked in the ribs. Yey! Bring it on little Bob.

  1. Ooooh exciting! It is such a miracle isn't it, subhanAllah :-) May the beginning of baby Bob's life be one full of even more blessings inshaAllah! And may Allah swt protect you and your child from the evil eye sis, please read Surah Maryam, I have heard this Surah in particular is very useful (not sure if this is the correct term) for pregnant mothers :-) xxx

  2. Congratulations! I hope and pray everything goes well. Enjoy every single moment of your pregnancy. I bet its an awesome feeling.
I started reading your blog a couple weeks ago. And I think I pretty much read through your entire TTC journey.
I too have PCOS. I've been TTC for over a year and being Naija it's difficult dealing with all the pressure from family and friends. I've learned to ignore but it is still difficult.

I was just wondering, did you do anything special this time around? How much weight did you lose before you got your BFP. Do you think Metformin did the trick? How long were you on Metformin this time around before your BFP. Did you BD differently? What was the frequency of BD? What did you do differently?

I know this is a lot of questions, but I'll be grateful if you can take the time to answer. Thanks,
    Sede

  3. @ MFM, AMEEN!!! Jazakallahu sis... will definitely take your advice about Surah Maryam. I've heard something along those lines too. Allah is the best Protector and may He protect us all and answer our duas (ameen). Little Bob loves aunties that make duas for him/her,lol.... thanks dear, your comments always make me smile, :)

@ Sede, thanks for your comment and I totally understand what you mean. I hope you were able to glean a few things from my entries. I will do a post in response to your questions; I'd be more than happy to help out any way that I can. I know from experience that we need all the help we can get, even though at the end of the day it's all in Gods Hands. May I ask if you've always had PCOS but were never diagnosed or if the symptoms sort of crept up on you overnight?

  4. Thanks for your reply. I started my period very early (I was almost 10 years old) and I had irregular periods ever since then. When I moved to the US at 19 my Obgyn randomly mentioned I may have PCOS. I never really had a lot of symptoms other than irregular periods (different cycle lengths, but I at least had a period every 1-3 months). I was just officially diagnosed with PCOS last year when I was started TTC.

  5. Hi Sede, your doctor should have run fertility tests, etc, in order to advice you on the best course of action. But I will definitely say the best thing you can do is educate yourself about PCOS. It's not a condition that can be wholly medicated like most doctors tend to do, and while in most cases it comes to light when we're ttc, having the mindset of 'conquering PCOS' rather than solely TTC is what will enable you conceive and sustain a healthy pregnancy. I know it sounds contradictory, but thats just how it is (from personal experience, anyway) I wish you all the best, :)
